Boothbay Railway Village
The Boothbay Railway Village is located in Boothbay, Maine and is historical, educational, and cultural museum whose purpose is to preserve, collect and demonstrate railroading, antique automobiles and show small rural town life emphasizing Maine in the periods of 1850 and 1950. Their vision is provides and develop educational programs and service including activities for families with children.
The museum offers a ride through their village with a stop at an authentic station lobby of a few historic Maine railroad stations. Included are extensive photographic and artifacts which demonstrate the history of Maine two-footers. Truly a great recreation of Maine’s narrow gauge historical steam trains situated on some thirty acres and housed with 28 exhibit buildings, truly capturing rural town life.The Boothbay Railway Village offers a Day Out with Thomas event annually.
Offering the opportunity to ride through our village and visit an authentic station lobby of one of our two historic Maine railroad stations is only a part of your visit to the museum. Also there is an extensive photographic and artifacts exhibit of the history of Maine two-footers. This New England village and museum offers a steam train ride, a historical village with an extensive collection of over 60 antique vehicles all in one museum. There are also beautiful gardens surrounded by historic structures like the 1847 Town Hall or the 1923 Spruce Point Chapel.
