Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is located Akron, Ohio and offering diesel electric and steam powered excursions through Peninsula, Ohio which is in the Cuyahoga Valley but mainly through scenic Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Steeped in history the CVSR was originally called the Cuyahoga Valley Line and it goes back over 100 years when in 1880 the Valley Railway started operations transporting coal and providing passenger service along the way.
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park covers some 33,000 acres of land which is part of our National Park system now and their goal is to preserve the significant cultural resources in the Cuyahoga Valley. Excursion rides provide a glimpse of meadow lands, piney marsh rivers where one can see animals like beaver, deer, fox and owls. There is a 19th century farm, miles of trails for biking or hiking. Of course there is shopping and a fascinating canal museum. One of the special events offered annually is the Day Out with Thomas the tank engine event.
