This is the largest event of the year for the Colorado Railroad Museum which hosts this event.
So what can you expect to see? Start with a 20 minute ride with Thomas the Tank Engine! You will be greeted by the Fat Controller, Sir Topham Hatt himself. There is also Thomas and Friends Storytelling, arts and crafts, video viewing, a petting zoo, kids get to build with MEGA BLOKS® and live music for the entire family.
This event is so big that the museum requires near 100 volunteers per day to ensure everything runs smoothly. The Colorado Railroad Museum is a non-profit railroad museum established in 1959 spans 15 acres at a point where Clear Creek flows between North and South Table Mountains in Golden, Colorado. Their collection includes 3 ft narrow gauge rolling stock which can be enjoyed on Steam Up Days where they offer narrow gauge train rides for this special event.
There is also a fantastic replica of a 1880s-style depot at CRRM which houses thousands of rare old photographs, artifacts and documents illustrating the histories of the railroads that served the state for over 125 years.
