The Fillmore & Western Railway is located in Fillmore, California in the heart of The Heritage Valley, guests find themselves immersed in the history of local farming families and rich in agricultural treasures to enjoy. Other things worth seeing are the orchards which boast pristine century old citrus and avocado orchards along the route of the train excursions. Guests can ride of passenger coach cars and dining cars from the 1930’s and 1940’s to travel back in time for a neat experience. The Fillmore and Western Railway boasts many locomotives are pre 1950’s while restored to adapt to the demands of present day.
The train excursion includes special events which follow a theme that include Railfest, Easter Lunch, Mother's Day Lunch, Father's Day Lunch, Day Out with Thomas, 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas. There is a Historic Valley Tour and Dinner Trains which feature Margarita Madness, Shake Rattle & Rail, Firecracker, Headless Horseman, Dinner with Santa, and New Year's Eve. There is another neat event called School Train - Fish Hatchery field trip. The field trip trains provide students with an exciting and educational trip including teachers and parents. The Fish Hatchery School Field Trip includes a 15 minute train ride to the hatchery which stays for about 45 minutes afterwards there is a 15 minute train ride back to town.
The Fillmore & Western Railway is also famous for being used in over 400 Feature Films, Commercials, and Television shows including Still Professional Shots at their location. Some of the movies filmed at Fillmore & Western include Seabiscuit, Throw Mama Off the Train, and Disney’s Tall Tales of Pecos Bill.
Be sure to order your Train Engineers Hat in advance and have your child wear it at the event. While many people can purchase these at the venue it will be at an inflated price. Most parents break down and spend the money but if you enjoy saving money consider these great Train Engineer Hats in Blue or Pink, you can’t beat the price.
