Day Out with Thomas train ride event
Gold Coast Railroad Museum is steeped in American History and inspiration. The museum was founded in 1956 by William J. Godfrey a student at the time attending the University of Miami. Originally the museum was the former home to the Naval Air Station Richmond which was a WWII airship base. After the war the Navy left the base and the University of Miami leased this space from the U.S. General Services Administration for educational and research purposes as a non-profit. The site spans over 2,100 acre of high pineland in Southern Dade County.
This Gold Coast Railroad Museum contains a collection of model railroad equipment and hosts a very interesting exhibit called the Presidential Car known as Ferdinand Magellan. There are other wonderful things to do here such has hosting events for parties, birthday rentals, lounge car rentals, field trips and film shoots. Remember there are free train rides on Wednesdays. Of course the museum is also home to the annual a Day Out with Thomas event.
