The Heber Valley Historic Railroad is a heritage railroad located in Heber City, Utah offering passenger excursions between Heber City and Vivian Park located in Provo Canyon. At nearly 16 miles long the railroad line takes about 3 hours to complete a typical roundtrip sojourn by train. This railroad carries some 94,000 passengers each year making Utah's 100 year railroad a special place to visit.
Passengers can enjoy viewing different wildlife including but no limited to mountain lions, dear, beavers, fox, hawks, turkeys, eagles and more. There are also a number of notable landmarks which can be seen from the train which include Sundance Ski Resort, Mount Timpanogos, Deer Creek Dam and Reservoir, Solider Hollow and Provo River.
Another notable feature of the Heber Valley Railroad is the fact that a number of motion pictures where taken here including being featured on the television series "Touched by an Angel" and also "Promise Land". Over the last two decades their steam engine including ten of their railroad cars have appeared in over 35 motion pictures.
The Heber Valley Railroad offers several specialty excursions including seasonal special events and activity trains. The most popular event is the Day Out with Thomas, Haunted Canyon, Pumpkin Patch and North Pole Christmas Train. Scenic trains include the Lakeside Limited, Soldier Hollow Express, and Provo Canyon Limited. Excursions offered during the evening include Sunset BBQ and more.
