The Whitewater Valley Railroad is an operating Railroad Museum located in Connersville Indiana. Formed in 1972 this operating railroad museum is not for profit and has been offering passenger operations since 1974 on 25 miles of track that is leased by Penn Central track between Connersville and Brookville.
This railroad is primarily operated by volunteers and maintains diesel locomotives of historical significance including open window coaches that operate on a regular schedule from Connersville to Metamora. Additionally passengers are carried further South for a two mile excursion which runs along a restored canal, beyond the Canal Boat dock, a working aqueduct and a restored lock.
The Whitewater Valley Railroad operates trains throughout the year hosting special events and not least the famous and annual Day Out with Thomas event. Child fares range for passengers 2 to 12 years of age and children under 2 ride for free when accompanied by an adult. The adult fares are for passengers 12 years of age and up.
