Diesel 10 is one of the most recognizable characters from the Island of Sodor. Why, because he is famous for being the villainous Diesel along with Pinchy his sidekick. Pinchy is the hydraulic grabber on his roof-top which look like a giant claw with big teeth!
He is colored olive green with tan stripes on his side. While not the largest diesel, he is one of Sodor’s strongest diesel engines. Diesel 10 is respected by the other engines on Sodor especially because of Pinchy his malfunctioning claw which he controls. Diesel 10 is modeled after a British Rail or
BR Class 42 Warship with an added non-regulation hydraulic claw which made him famous.
If there is a bad engine on the island, than Diesel 10 is the one. He has a reputation of being evil and bullying; sometimes he teases the steam engines and taunts them by saying names such as teapot or puffball. On occasion Diesel 10 will do the right thing and help Sir TopHam Hatt, he does have a caring side and may show it sometimes.
The Diesel 10 toy line has been manufactured by ten different toy makers. So there are over ten different engines to collect to suit everyone’s taste. The range includes wooden engines, plastic battery operated, diecast metal and plastic. You even collect books and movies featuring Diesel 10 too.
