Thomas is returning to the Caledonian Railway for the Day Out with Thomas event held at Brechin Station and Dun Stations at Brechin Angus. The stations heritage can be traced back to 1848 and is reminiscent of the grand Victorian railway terminus from that period.
Everything from the charm and original character with features from a bygone era are preserved for everyone to enjoy. Visit the Caledonian Railway and step back in time when men carried pocket watches and steam trains with their whistles, and puffing smoke were in their glory.
At the Caledonian Railway one can enjoy the preserved steam operated railway with its collection of vintage diesel locomotives and coaches along with a collection of classic steam engines. Interesting the Donald and Douglas the engines who are brothers and live on the Island of Sodor are modeled after the Caledonian Railway McIntosh 812 0-6-0.
The most popular day for the children is the Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine. The magical train ride is eight miles round trip between Brechin and Bridge of Dun. Included in the price of the ticket are many activities and free give a ways for the children. There are some differences in what is available at either location, see below for details. Hot & Cold Snacks are available at both stations.
Also remember there are other activities too throughout the year like Father's Day, Easter and the Santa Christmas train. You’re your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment, "Enjoy a great day out at the Caledonian Railway".

Brechin Station is the main venue for the attractions and your day should be planned with the greater part of your stay at this station. Limited on site parking at this station but arrangements made for additional parking nearby..
At Brechin Station there is a shop with lots of Thomas goodies, a picnic area and a Buffet serving hot and cold food, also tea, coffee, soft drinks, also BBQ. Station opens at 9:30am and closes at 4:30pm. Shop & Buffet open at 10:15am. Entry to Brechin Station is by train ticket only.
Bridge of Dun station has picnic tables. Classic bus service, more details below. Bridge of Dun is open from 10:00am until 3:30pm. Free car parking on site.
